As we celebrate Employee Learning Week, share the most valuable learning experience you've received or given this year.

Was it a course that changed your career path, a mentor's invaluable advice, or a book that inspired your work?

Post your learning gift below and tell us why it mattered!

I always enjoy hearing that participants enjoy our classes/learning and that they "got something out of it". This year, it went a step above.

I am fortunate to work for an organization that values employee development and growth. My team's efforts are usually focused on making sure that our new hires have the tools they need to succeed. However; in the last few years, there has been a renewed interest in ensuring that middle and upper management is developed as well. We have been focusing on topics such as Emotional Intelligence and Crucial Conversations. I have had the honor and pleasure to train both of those topics.

This year the unexpected gift i received was checking in on myself and my own EQ and CC skills which came in very useful during the last year of high stress in my personal life.  It's the times where I am teaching from my personal experience and seeing the lightbulbs turn on that truly are the most valuable.

The best learning experience I recieved this year has been in the leadership development program I was part of.  I was a cohort member of the Latina Leadership Institute through our local hispanic chamber. Each class day was filled with different experiences centered around building the skills needed for elected and appointed positions. I am grateful for the invaluable knowledge and even more so the sisterhood I gained.

Also shout out to the being a board member for ATD! I learned a vast array of new skills and applications just by fulfilling the duties of my role!
