Jim Bouchard, The Sensei Leader

Jim Bouchard is an internationally recognized business speaker, trainer and author of THE SENSEI LEADER and THINK Like a BLACK BELT. He provides interactive keynotes and leadership programs for corporate and conference audiences around the world.

In over 25 years of teaching Jim has helped hundreds of others transform themselves into Black Belts, and thousands more discover their best selves by learning how to think like one.

Jim is a 2004 inductee to the U.S. Martial Arts Hall of Fame and was twice featured in Inside Kung Fu magazine. Jim is a volunteer mentor for incarcerated youth, an obsessive golfer and surf guitar player. In 2016 Jim was nominated to run for Congress. Jim is a seasoned media guest, and appears regularly on TV and radio, including such programs as BBC Worldview and FOX News. He hosts Walking The Walk, a leadership podcast highlighting compassionate, engaged leaders from all areas of business around the world.

Jacque Burandt, MEd, President, Award-winning Results, LLC,  in San Antonio, Texas, is passionate about transforming organizations through people development; creating top performers and leaders at all levels of the organization; and enhancing organizational and individual visibility, prestige and pride through achieving awards and recognition for her clients' great work.

A proven expert in creating an award-winning culture, Jacque led the team at University Health System (UHS), San Antonio, Texas, to win eight ATD BEST Awards and ATD's first Innovation in Talent Development Award. Under her leadership, UHS  won more BEST Awards than any other nonprofit organization in the world. A strong advocate for workforce development throughout her career, Jacque submitted University Health System's winning application for CareerSTAT's 2017 Frontline Worker Champion Award. She served as chairperson of ATD's Public Policy Committee, wrote five case studies for ATD's Skills Gap Series, and co-chaired the Strategic Planning Committee for Workforce Solutions Alamo.

Jacque and her team also won four Chief Learning Officer Learning Elite Awards, including Editor's Choice for Best Midsize Company in 2016 and five Chief Learning Officer Learning in Practice Awards.

Yorka Velasco-Caballero

"Changing Your Mindset...One Cup at a Time!"

Yorka Velasco-Caballero is a seasoned professional with an entrepreneurial spirit and a proven leader with over 17 years of experience in the areas of Sales, Marketing, and Business Development.  During her tenure as a National Field Sales Manager she was a two time winner of the President’s Award for Sales Excellence and, selected to be certified in Six Sigma program in order to continue the pursuit of excellence.

Yorka’s education includes a double major from the University of Kansas in Economics and Business  and a minor in Latin American Studies. She later obtained an MBA from the University of Incarnate Word, where she also received an “Outstanding Achievement Award” in International Relations for work done in Morelos, Mexico.

Born in Oruro, Bolivia, she moved to the United States at 15 years of age with no previous knowledge of the English language.  As the family settled in the small town of Topeka, KS, her father, a very strict Engineer, required both Yorka and her younger brother memorize 5 vocabulary words and their definitions in English every day.  Yorka believes that the discipline her father and mother taught her was key to her early successes.  She now calls San Antonio home, where she lives with her husband Sam and the two loves of her life; Samuel and Isabella.

Megan Pope, MA

Megan is a member of the Communication faculty at Texas A&M – San Antonio and serves as the Speech Course Coordinator. Megan earned a Bachelor and Master of Arts from Texas State University in Communication Studies. During the last decade teaching, Megan has participated in many facets of higher education – from grant writing, shared governance, faculty development, online instruction, to coaching policy debate at Cal Poly. In 2015, she researched and co-wrote portions of a winning $1.1M TRiO SSS grant proposal for Allan Hancock College. In addition to her teaching, she frequently consults with organizations as an e-learning & communication training expert.

Jorlanditha Tiffany Austin, BA

Jorlanditha is a graduate student & teaching assistant of Communication Studies at Texas State University. She received a bachelor's degree in communication from Texas A&M University-San Antonio. Her undergraduate research focused on portrayal and perceptions of Black women in the media, stereotypes, as well as microaggressions. She is interested in facilitation and training, organizational behavior, interpersonal communication, and diversity issues.

Mary C. Dixson, PhD

Mary Dixson is Associate Vice Provost for Teaching and Learning Services for UTSA. She leads faculty development efforts to promote teaching excellence. She has twenty years of experience in administration and teaching communication courses at various colleges and universities. She is published in the Journal of Communication, Presidential Studies Quarterly, and Political Communication.

In addition, Dixson has worked in sales, recruiting, public relations, project management, and non-profit leadership. She consults with organizations and individuals on communication skills and team building. Dixson earned a Ph.D. in Communication Studies and certification in non-profit management from the University of Texas, Austin.

Kurt Steuck, PhD

"Tools for Planning the Evaluation of Training"

Dr. Kurt Steuck is the Senior Researcher at Steuck & Associates. After receiving his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Dr. Steuck conducted research and evaluation at Trinity University, a federal research laboratory, and in the private sector applying educational psychology principles to the evaluation of training projects. He evaluates grants funded by the National Science Foundation, National Institutes of Health, Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, NASA, Department of Education, Texas Education Agency, and the Texas Workforce Commission. He is a member of the American Evaluation Association. He coordinates the Alamo City Evaluators, an informal group of evaluators.


Janee Boudreaux Goren, MSOD

Janée Boudreaux Goren is a Field Service Operations Training Manager at KCI an Acelity company, located in San Antonio, TX. She has over 15 years of experience designing, developing, and leading training programs and believes in using creative solutions to solve old problems. She has experience training the global workforce, including developing frontline employees and leadership teams outside the U.S., in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia-Pacific.

Janée is passionate about building learning communities within organizations where the workforce is actively engaged and empowered to chart their own course. She serves as internal training and development consultant to project leaders and has developed award winning training programs and communication strategies.

She earned her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Science degrees from the University of the Incarnate Word in Organizational Development and Leadership. She is also a certified DDI Facilitator and Franklin Covey Presenter.

Carlos Escobar, MBA, SHRM-SCP

Carlos Escobar is a Learning and Talent Management Specialist at the Alamo Colleges District where he helps teams improve processes, manage projects, and manage change. He has over 13 years experience planning, designing, facilitating and assessing training programs and over 9 years experience using data to make decisions on organizational priorities. Carlos is a Prosci certified Change Management Practitioner, and maintains senior level HR certifications from the Human Resources Certification Institute and the Society for Human Resource Management.
